Use The Basket Room Egbe round shopping basket to carry your groceries home from the shops. Every shopping basket is crafted from veta vera grass, a variety that grows locally in the wilds of Ghana. The grass is hand-rolled and dyed in boiling water before being skillfully woven. Once woven, this grass is incredibly robust and durable – you’ll be using your basket for years to come.
The stylish round basket features a double stripe in the centre, while the handle is bound in sustainably sourced goat’s leather for a chic finish. Not only does the leather look beautiful, but it makes the basket comfortable to hold and carry. Use this medium-sized basket to carry your groceries or keep it at home for storing toys and trinkets.
Each of these shopping baskets is handwoven in Northern Ghana. Basket-weaving provides farmers with a second income during the dry season when it’s not always possible to make money from the land.
