Sage Smoking Gun

The smoking gun offers a handheld alternative to traditional smoking methods. The cold smoke is easy to direct with the smoking tube, and can be added at any stage of a dish. With the smoking gun, it’s easy to control the intensity of the smoke flavour you’re adding. And for dramatic tableside presentation, fill an upturned glass, cloche or box with smoke, and lift it to reveal the almost magical smoke at the table.

The Sage smoking gun is extremely easy to use: it is hand-held and operates on just four AA batteries. Simply fill the smoking gun chamber with your choice of combustible, light with a match or lighter, turn on the motor and apply the smoke where you want it.

What can I smoke?

You can smoke almost anything! Because the smoke is cool, you don’t need to worry about it melting or heating any of your dishes. For new culinary sensations, try smoking butter, chocolate, fish fillets and sauces, or even popcorn and ice cream!

The smoking gun is also a great finishing tool for food that’s cooked using sous vide, or any other method where food is not directly exposed to smoke. You can also add smoke to alcohol and cocktails.

How long should I smoke food for?

As a general guide, use the smoking gun for 30-60 seconds. For a more intense flavour, just repeat.

The Sage smoking gun has two speed settings on the motor, so you can opt for gentle or intense smoke infusion.

What smoking chips should I use in the smoking gun?

The smoking gun includes samples of apple wood and hickory smoke chips. However, the smoke aroma is only limited by your imagination. Try smouldering different wood chips, teas, herbs, spices and even hay and dried flowers. The smoking gun works with any of our extra fine wood chips.
